Corma opens Shanghai Facility

One of the world's leading corrugator equipment company establishes a strong base for growth
in China
Corma Inc., is ine of the world leaders in the design and manufacture of the world's most
comprehensive range of corrugated plastic pipe production systems, has established
a significant manufacturing/customer service presence in the world's fastest-growing
market. "We are pleased to announce our newest facility in Shanghai, China,"
said Stefan Lupke, Executive Vice President of Corma Inc.
Corma has been actively engaged in seeking out and capitalizing on strategic global
expansion opportunities for some time and with its new operation in Shanghai, the
Company will enhance its level of service and the penetration of its products in
the fast-expanding Chinese market.
Lupke emphasizes that Corma's success is propelled by the company's unique, leading-edge
technologies and many patents that provide superior solutions to the world's most
successful pipe producers. "Our new Shanghai facility, will provide a strong
base for expansion as we pursue a two-pronged approach in China and, ultimately,
in other important global markets," Lupke says.
"First, our strategic location in Shanghai, supported by our already existing
base of technical expertise in China, will allow Corma to immediately deliver premium
quality, technologically-advanced products to an expanding base of Chinese customers
at extremely competitive prices. For the foreseeable future, all production from
Corma Shanghai will be destined exclusively for China as we target maximum growth
and market penetration in that country.
"Second, as we continue to win patent suits in China - we have already won
two and expect to win the other seven that are outstanding - and as our newest facility
realizes the full benefits of Chinese manufacturing effectiveness and attains world-class
quality levels, we will broaden the marketing of our Shanghai products into the global arena."
The new wholly-owned plant is located in the Sheshan District, 25 kilometres from
the core of sprawling Shanghai. Operating as Corma Shanghai, the new 20,000 square
foot facility will offer the complete range of Corma products and include a sales
office, customer and technical service, a product assembly operation, and a spare
parts depot.
The facility commenced operation in mid November, 2005 and filled its first order
for a corrugator system for the manufacture of automotive wire harness shortly after
the Chinese New Year in February 2006. A second system will ship in March, with
a third, larger system capable of producing pipe of up to 1200 millimetres in May
2006.
Shanghai, China's largest city (pop. 17 million), is situated on the banks of the
Yangtze River Delta. The city's development in the past few decades has made it
one of the most important economic, commercial, financial and communications centers
of China. Shanghai is also home to the world's busiest port.
